Gion Matsuri, one of the most famous festivals of Kyoto -and Japan- with a history of over 1000 years, attracts every year more than a million people who brave the scorching heat to enjoy the unique festival atmosphere and the parade of the magnificent Yamahoko and Mikoshi floats, also known as “mobile museums”.

For those who would like to enjoy the details of these magnificent portable floats, sheltered from the heat and crowds, and with an unobstructed view of the entire procession, Sharing Kyoto is organizing a special event during the parade on June 24, so that a privileged few can enjoy the festival in the best possible conditions.

While savoring a meticulously prepared hand-dripped coffee and delicious Kyoto sweets at TRIBUTE COFFEE, take in the breathtaking view of the Yamahoko Junko procession of the Gion Festival from the cafe's large bay windows, and listen to a local interpreter-guide tell you all about this festival with its incredible history and deep ties to Kyoto's culture.
