Guided tour of ”Higashiyama”, the largest concentration of national treasures and cultural assets in Kyoto!
2 hours-¥12,500 / Per person
Arashiyama? ''Higashiyama'' is the cultural center of Kyoto!【With a ticket to the National Museum】
The Higashiyama area of Kyoto is an area frequented by lovers of Japanese culture.
This is partly because, in Kyoto’s long history, large temples and shrines served as a stage for exchange among the powerful, the gorgeous aristocratic culture blending together with the culture of samurai, Zen priests, etc., and a uniquely Japanese sense of beauty has taken root in the area.
In addition to the famous Kiyomizu-dera Temple and Yasaka Shrine, many national treasures have been passed down to temples and shrines in the area, and because the deep history and culture remain very strong, even long-time Kyoto residents say that the atmosphere of Higashiyama is special and different from any others.
The Kyoto National Museum, the most prestigious museum in Kyoto and one of only four national museums in Japan, is also located in Higashiyama, and this tour will allow you to learn about many of the major cultural assets in this area! We hope you will enjoy all that Higashiyama, the cultural center of Kyoto, has to offer!
*Only the "Special Exhibition - Tofukuji" can be viewed from 10/7 to 12/3, as no other exhibitions are held during the biannual special exhibitions at Kyoto National Museum. Tofukuji Temple is one of Kyoto's most famous Zen temples, known for its autumn foliage and beautiful fresh greenery. It is also home to many paintings and Buddhist statues of national treasure value, indicating that Tofukuji was a very prestigious temple that received support from the state.
・Offered in English
・Local meeting and local breakup
