Enjoy the Kyoto National Museum exhibition 100 times more! Guided Tour around Tofukuji Temple
1.5 hours-¥9,500 / Per person
Just looking at an exhibition is not enough to understand it. Enjoy and understand a museum exhibition 100 times more!
The Kyoto National Museum is one of only four national museums in Japan and the most prestigious in Kyoto.
This is where the "Special Exhibition Tofukuji: Monumental Zen Temple of Kyoto" will be held this fall.
Tofukuji Temple is one of Kyoto's most representative Zen temples, renowned for its autumn foliage and beautiful fresh greenery. This is the first-ever large-scale exhibition of the temple's sacred art and cultural properties all under one roof.
Tofukuji Temple was built about 800 years ago in a location close to the National Museum. Many paintings and Buddhist statues remain as national treasures, indicating that the temple was supported by the state as a very prestigious temple.
While walking around Tofukuji Temple and its surroundings, this tour will provide visitors with an opportunity to learn about the role and significance of the temple, which represented the nation in cultural exchanges with the continent and spread its culture to the common people. Visitors will be able to understand how Zen culture has influenced Kyoto and, by extension, Japanese culture.
Be sure to join this guided tour, made possible thanks to the temple's proximity to the exhibition, to gain a deeper understanding of Kyoto and Zen culture, and you will be fully prepared for a self-guided museum tour!
*Only the "Special Exhibition - Tofukuji" can be viewed from 10/7 to 12/3, as no other exhibitions are held during the biannual special exhibitions at Kyoto National Museum.
・Offered in English
・Local meeting and local breakup
